Redefining our Connected Future

City & State's 2023 Digital Pennsylvania Summit will convene the top thought leaders in technology and data science from across the commonwealth for a half-day conference exploring how the ever-expanding world of digital offerings can make the everyday lives of Pennsylvanians more livable, safe and convenient.

As the public and private sector converge to tackle issues such as cybersecurity, rural broadband access, social media age restrictions, AI, digital equity and more, the race is on to discover the best practices for applying advances to how we live, work and play. How will artificial intelligence change the way the government regulates both business and itself? What is being done to ensure digital privacy and safety? What can we learn from previous successes and failures? We’ll hear from the public- and private-sector leaders playing key roles in determining how the next wave of this sea change in American life can change our virtual landscape.

Among the topics covered will be: How and when will recent transformational commitments to expanding broadband access help unserved and underserved areas of the state? How can local, state and federal government agencies and officials best support and encourage economic development spurred on by digital advances? How much control should the state government have over social media age restrictions? With AI becoming more advanced and becoming an integral part of even more aspects of Pennsylvanians’ lives, how fast is the government adapting to these changes? Are these new advances improving safety guardrails for vulnerable populations, or are they further weakening them? 10:55 AM	Panel 2: Digital Services, Real-World Benefits Pennsylvania’s digital government services can be a game-changer in how residents interact with state, county, and local authorities on everything from housing to transportation to licenses to legal services. But what are the real-world benefits of digital services, and how can we realize them for our 13 million residents? Our panel will then explore how such real-world benefits can be realized with modern digital services in Pennsylvania to keep our residents safe, healthy, and moving forward. Among the topics to be discussed: What does a fully digitized government services infrastructure look like? How will Pennsylvania ensure equal access to healthcare, education, and housing services when that access requires robust digital connectivity? How can government leaders continue improving digital services for Pennsylvanians while ensuring those systems' security?
