Tori Shriver named political director of EAS carpenters union
The Eastern Atlantic States Regional Council of Carpenters, the union that represents more than 41,000 blue collar workers in Pennsylvania and four other states, Washington, D.C. and Puerto Rico, has tapped a new director to handle its political outreach.
Tori Shriver, who served as deputy political director for the carpenters union for four years prior, was named this week during a delegate meeting in Pittsburgh.
“Our union has been fortunate to have Tori help lead our political outreach in Pennsylvania over the years and [we] have full confidence in her ability to carry that success over our entire council,” William C. Sproule, executive secretary-treasurer of the EAS Regional Council of Carpenters, said in a press release.
“Protecting worker rights and educating our elected officials is a major part of representing our membership. Tori’s leadership will be a major asset in this education and in the mobilization [of] over 41,000 members to vote and speak up on these issues.”
EAS Regional Council of Carpenters is made up of workers in a variety of trades, including commercial and residential carpentry, heavy highway work, pile driving, floor layering, mill cabinet work and trade show construction.
“There are important challenges ahead and I look forward to working with our entire membership and staff in this new role to protect workers’ safety standards, prevailing wage, infrastructure investment and fighting against wage theft and worker misclassification,” Shriver said.
