Biden visits Philadelphia to energize Black voter engagement efforts

President Joe Biden is visiting Philadelphia Wednesday to kick off the Black Voters for Biden-Harris campaign, a voter engagement initiative getting an eight-figure investment to hit the ground running just over five months away from the election. 

Wednesday’s visit to Philly is Biden’s seventh trip to Pennsylvania this year and Vice President Kamala Harris’ third trip to the region this month. 

Biden made three stops in the Keystone State to start the year, delivering his first campaign speech of the year in Valley Forge in January and making stops in the Lehigh Valley and at the Philadelphia hunger relief organization Philabundance. 

In March, Biden traveled to Delaware County to host a rally and visit a friend’s home in Rose Valley. And just last month, Biden made stops in Scranton, Pittsburgh and Philadelphia, where he received an endorsement from members of the Kennedy family. 

The Black Voters for Biden-Harris launch Wednesday coincides with a rally at Girard College and an organizing event at a local Black-owned business. 

Vice President Harris has frequented the commonwealth in recent months as well. Last week, Harris delivered the keynote address at the 2024 Service Employees International Union’s international convention.
