What crucial issues need to be addressed for Pennsylvania to spur economic development?
The Governor’s economic development plan is a much-needed blueprint for inclusive growth, which will benefit the Greater Philadelphia region. The most crucial step now is for our region’s stakeholders to work together to act on and amplify the strategy. The Chamber’s recently published cell and gene therapy report narrating Greater Philadelphia’s path to becoming a global leader in cell and gene therapy is one example of how the Chamber is aligning with the state’s plan, which highlights the life sciences as a key industry economic driver.
What are some of the ways you are working to make that happen? *
The Chamber’s own strategic plan, Chamber 2028, complements the state plan and provides us a path to support and promote the Greater Philadelphia region as a top global destination for business and a leader in inclusive growth.
Our strategic vision guides our work to drive the positive impact of business and growth in our region and be a collective voice to amplify the impact of these outcomes. We do this through regional marketing to drive awareness of the region’s strengths and opportunities among national and international business audiences.
Customized, concierge-level business attraction and expansion support, site visit planning and execution, and economic research for companies and site selectors evaluating the region.
Talent attraction and retention marketing targeting specific talent profiles to fill jobs required for industries both in-demand and poised for growth.
Welcoming and onboarding new companies and talent to build connections and resources for continued growth.
What is your elevator pitch to explain just how important fostering economic development is to improving the quality of life for Pennsylvanians?
Using the type of regional collaboration guided by the state’s economic plan to create and expand innovative workforce models will allow Greater Philadelphia to realize its full potential. That full potential will create life-changing economic opportunities for residents throughout our region, and in the case of the region’s life sciences and cell and gene therapy sector, that potential will create lifesaving cures that will have global impacts.
We look forward to continuing to work with the state and our regional partners to advance our shared goal of growing this economy effectively and inclusively.
