AG-elect Dave Sunday names chief of staff, transition team members
Sunday transition team includes a trusted staffer from the York County DA’s office and a former state attorney general.
On Wednesday, Pennsylvania Attorney General-elect Dave Sunday named his chief of staff and several members of his transition committee as he prepares to take office in January 2025.
Sunday, who currently serves as district attorney in York County, said Kyle King, the current administrator for the York County District Attorney’s Office, will be joining him in Harrisburg as his chief of staff.
King has worked with the York County DA’s office since 2006, where he serves as a senior advisor to the Sunday and provides administrative and logistical support. He previously was vice president of operations for Mohr Information Services, a criminal and civil research company, and was also previously licensed as a private investigator in Virginia. He also served as a member of the Central York School Board from December 2019 to December 2023.
Sunday offered praise for King in a statement announcing his appointment. “For the past 18 years, Kyle has managed the York County District Attorney’s office, one of the largest district attorney’s offices in the Commonwealth. Kyle is one of the smartest, most dependable administrators I have ever worked with,” Sunday said. “He is a dedicated public servant and has helped our Commonwealth fight the opioid epidemic as the Chair of the York Opioid Collaborative. I am thrilled that he will be coming with me to the Attorney General’s office as chief of staff.”
King will also serve as director of the transition team, with Ryan DeMara and Ben Wren – both of whom worked on Sunday’s campaign – serving as co-directors.
Sunday also announced five transition team co-chairs on Wednesday: Bob Asher; former governor and attorney general Tom Corbett; Liz Preate Havey, a partner at Dilworth Paxon LLP; John Verbanac, president and CEO of Summa Development and Dave White, the president and CEO of DWD Mechanical who ran for governor in 2022.
In the announcement, Sunday also said he has spoken with outgoing Attorney General Michelle Henry, as well as Corbett and Gov. Josh Shapiro, about leading the AG’s office.
“Over the last two weeks, I have appreciated the counsel of Attorney General Michelle Henry, Governor Josh Shapiro and former Governor Tom Corbett who, as previous trustees of this office, have offered their insights to leading the office of Attorney General,” Sunday said.
Sunday, who leaned on his experience as district attorney throughout his campaign, defeated Democrat Eugene DePasquale in this year’s election for attorney general 50.78% to 46.22% – a margin of roughly 312,000 votes, according to unofficial election returns.
